Preschools

Malawi Preschools

Many small beautiful faces are looking at me when I go inside the preschool. Children are curious they make big eyes or sometimes they start to cry, because they had never seen white skin. We are called “azungu” which in Chichewa’s language means “white”! Majority of the preschools has buildings, but some are using Churches and some are studying outside under tree.
Teacher for the preschool is chosen by the headman or headwomen of the community. Teachers are not paid for their job, it is just a way how communities are used to do so there is nothing much to change.
Not always schools are open and teachers are willing to teach. That is why we are suggesting for the head before he or she choose the teacher he should ask form all the community – is there a volunteer? In this case system can be more productive!
Now we are teaching the communities around the preschools how to run the school if they don’t have any sponsors (by making gardens so that they can feed the children, communicating with each other, fundraising for different things so that preschools have everything what is necessary).

Later on we are going to realize our plans for those preschools which are willing to work! Searching of support so that Preschools are materially supported and also bringing joy by teaching and spending time with teachers, children and any live creature that we meet in our way! We are learning from each other!
